Welcome to our Grande Parlour. This space has been a dream since the Friends acquired the farmhouse. At the time of purchase, the parlour had actually been divided into several small offices.
The Grande Parlour is part of our sponsorship program, and affords several opportunities. Sponsorships of $5,000 have already been given, which enabled us to begin work on the renovation. Thanks to much hard work on the part of several key people, the Grande Parlour has been restored in size, rewired, drywalled, painted, carpeted, and is available for rentals!
December 28, 2005, was our first official function -- an open house for the membership of the Friends of the Garden City Historical Museum. See some pictures of our construction process online or stop by in person when the Lathers General Store is open (Wed. & Sat. from 12 - 3 p.m.). |

To reserve a date, you will be required to pay a deposit of 50%. A $50.00 security deposit is also required, which will be returned providing that the rooms are left clean and in a satisfactory condition. The security deposit will be returned by mail within 14 days after the event. Read our brochure.
The Grande Parlour has seating for 70 guests at tables. The Parlour can seat 100+ people with just chairs and no tables used. A food preparation/buffet set-up room off the Grande Parlour is available. The use of our newly renovated kitchen is included in the rental. Other items available include:
One 8-ft table
Two 6-ft tables
One 4-ft table
Two 60-cup coffee urns
Linen tablecloths are available in many colors for an additional fee.
For your guests’ convenience, Ladies and Gentlemen may proceed to the two necessary rooms located in the lower level. Less than able persons will find a suitable facility on the first level.
There is ample parking for using the main entrance to the Straight Farm House, entered from Elmwood Street at the rear of the farmhouse. The Grande Parlour is also accessible for those needing the handicap ramp, which is located in the front of the farmhouse, with a drop-off parking space on Merriman Road.
