The third annual 'Skeletons on Review' began October 1, 2014 and runs until October 29, 2014.
NEW THIS YEAR! - For the first time, in addition
to our regular hours
(Wednesdays and Saturdays from noon -3pm)
this exhibit will be open three nights to allow everyone the opportunity to visit. The skeleton exhibit will be open October 22, 28, and 29 from 6:30-8:30pm.
We hope you can join us.
This year's theme is "Then and Now" where our skeletons show us scenes from life in the 1930s and how it has changed today. Plan on stopping by and saying "Hello" to our old familiar friends.
As always, admission is free for this event!

Do you want to know an easy way to support the Straight Farmhouse? Do you shop at Amazon.com? If you answered "Yes" to both of these, you are in luck! Go to smile.amazon.com. You can shop for the same items with the same low prices as on Amazon (watch for the items that say "Eligible for AmazonSmile Donation), AND you can designate the Straight Farmhouse to received a donation from Amazon for a portion of the sale price. So if you already shop Amazon, remember AmazonSmile!
Progress on Upgrades!
in addition to our regular ongoing maintenance of the Straight
Farmhouse facility, we will be making several upgrades throughout the
upcoming months. The new computer for the historical museum has been
donated and installed! The new museum software (to allow our museum
volunteers to log our artifacts on software design specifically for
small museums) has also arrived and have been installed and placed into
service! Both are welcomed additions!
The two rooms in the front of the museum (the original Farmhouse parlor)
will be receiving new carpeting, and extensive work has been completed on the
two large wood and glass display cases.
As you can imagine, it was a difficult winter on the finances of the
Straight Farmhouse. With the extreme cold utility bills skyrocketed, as
did snow plowing and ice removal costs. If you know someone who is not a
member of the Friends of the Garden City Historical Museum, or someone
who is not currently participating in our Support Plan (see 'Membership' page on this website for options),
please encourage them to consider doing so. Please let potential donors
know we receive no financial support from the City or State. Our
members are critical to our success! Are you considering a special
donation? Now is a great time! The Board of Directors would like to
thank everyone for their ongoing support.
