Well, it looks like to long cold winter is finally over!
Let's get caught up on what is going on at the Straight Farmhouse.
The annual Straight Farmhouse Flea Markets will be held again from June-September on the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month (weather permitting).
The flea market will open at 9am and close at 2pm. Stop by and see all of the great items the vendors have for sale.
Vendor space is available on a first come, first served basis. Vendors, for more information please contact the Straight Farmhouse.
Do you want to know an easy way to support the Straight Farmhouse? Do you shop at Amazon.com? If you answered "Yes" to both of these, you are in luck! Go to smile.amazon.com. You can shop for the same items with the same low prices as on Amazon (watch for the items that say "Eligible for AmazonSmile Donation), AND you can designate the Straight Farmhouse to received a donation from Amazon for a portion of the sale price. So if you already shop Amazon, remember AmazonSmile!
As you can imagine, it was a difficult winter on the finances of the Straight Farmhouse. With the extreme cold utility bills skyrocketed, as did snow plowing and ice removal costs. If you know someone who is not a member of the Friends of the Garden City Historical Museum, or someone who is not currently participating in our Support Plan (see 'Membership' page on this website for options), please encourage them to consider doing so. Please let potential donors know we receive no financial support from the City or State. Our members are critical to our success! Are you considering a special donation? Now is a great time! The Board of Directors would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.
The votes are in! The winner of the favortie Santa from our recent Santa Exhibit is (drumroll please...):
A close second was the Santa with the white dog, and third was Santa with the lion and the lamb. Thanks to all who voted! We hope you enjoyed this beautiful exhibit.
Side note: This exhibit was held over more months than was anticipated. Due to severe weather conditions, video taping of Mr. Dan Dare talking about each piece in his collection had to be postponed until it was safe for Mr. Dare to travel. We apologize for any inconvenience.
